Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, widely regarded as the greatest three-point shooter in NBA history, announced on Sunday his intention to participate in the NBA's Three-Point Contest in 2027. Curry made the declaration during a television appearance on NBC.
When asked if he felt compelled to return after watching Damian Lillard win his third contest, Curry responded emphatically, "One hundred percent." He added, "I already scheduled it," and expressed his desire for both Lillard and former teammate Klay Thompson to also take part.
Curry's motivation appears to be driven by Lillard's recent achievement of joining an elite group with a third contest victory. Curry himself has won the event twice, in 2015 and 2021. Klay Thompson also won the contest back in 2016.
Despite being 37 years old and in his 17th NBA season, Curry continues to perform at an elite level, averaging 27.2 points per game this season. He was recently named a starter for the 2026 All-Star Game but sat out due to a knee injury.
While Curry remains a top performer, his Golden State Warriors are currently battling for a playoff position in the competitive Western Conference.
