San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White was shot in the ankle during an early morning event on Monday, following Super Bowl LX. According to a police spokesman, the shooting occurred around 4 a.m. on Mission Street after an altercation broke out between two groups. White is not believed to have been involved in the initial conflict.

He was transported to a nearby hospital by police and is expected to recover. The 49ers released a statement confirming White was a victim of the shooting and is undergoing surgery for the ankle wound.

The incident happened just hours after the Super Bowl took place at Levi's Stadium, over 40 miles away in Santa Clara. White, who was traded to the 49ers from the New England Patriots last October, was at the game and seen wearing a Patriots hat.

This marks the second shooting incident involving a 49ers player in recent years, following wide receiver Ricky Pearsall's injury in 2024. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
