Nick Castellanos' tenure with the Philadelphia Phillies has concluded with his release. This follows the team instructing him not to report to spring training.

Upon his departure, Castellanos posted handwritten notes. One thanked the organization, while another addressed "The Miami Incident," which led to a one-game benching that ended his 236-game starting streak.

Castellanos explained he brought a Presidente beer into the dugout after being substituted for a defensive replacement in a close game. He sat next to manager Rob Thomson to voice frustrations about inconsistent team rules. Teammates intervened before he could drink it.

He apologized in a subsequent meeting but was told not to discuss it publicly. The punishment was the benching. The incident occurred on June 16 against the Marlins, in front of his friends and family.

Castellanos' performance declined afterwards, and the Phillies moved on by signing Adolis García. After being told not to report to camp, Castellanos was officially released.

Despite recent league-average offensive production, Castellanos must now seek an opportunity with a new franchise.
