The NBA has fined Chicago Bulls guard Collin Sexton $35,000 for an obscene gesture directed at the basket during Monday's loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

The incident occurred late in the third quarter after Sexton missed a free throw. Upon making his second attempt, he angrily raised his middle finger at the rim while jogging back on defense. The league cited the act as an "inappropriate gesture."

Sexton scored 21 points in the game, which was just his second appearance for the Bulls after a recent trade. The team has lost five consecutive games and faces an uphill battle to make the playoffs this season.
