The Atlanta Falcons have fired assistant defensive line coach LaTroy Lewis, the team announced Friday. This decision follows a news report detailing rape allegations against Lewis dating back to his tenure at the University of Michigan.
The Ann Arbor Police Department confirmed it is investigating sexual assault allegations against Lewis. The Falcons stated they became aware of the allegations, gathered information, and dismissed Lewis hours later. He was hired this offseason as part of new head coach Kevin Stefanski's staff.
A report alleges a victim, "Jane," met Lewis via a dating app in December 2024. She claims a hotel meeting turned violent, resulting in sexual assault. Jane reportedly disclosed the incident to then-Michigan coach Sherrone Moore, who she says told her to report it herself.
In January 2025, a second alleged encounter at Jane's apartment involved physical violence, prompting a 911 call and police report. Photos of alleged injuries were published.
The University of Michigan spokesman called the allegations "deeply concerning," noting an investigation and athletic department review are underway. Lewis coached at the University of Toledo in 2025 after leaving Michigan, where he started as a graduate assistant in 2022.
