FORT WORTH, Texas — The University of Texas women's basketball team, led by head coach Vic Schaefer, has advanced to the Final Four with a dominant run, raising the question: Is this finally the year they win it all?
Schaefer, who has reached the Final Four with multiple schools but never won the national title, believes this might be his best team yet. The Longhorns boast a powerful combination of elite defense and a deep, versatile offense featuring stars like Madison Booker and Rori Harmon.
The team's journey included a key moment in February after a loss to Vanderbilt. Schaefer challenged his team's toughness, and they responded with a 12-game winning streak, culminating in an SEC tournament championship victory over South Carolina.
"This team, they got a chance," Schaefer said. The Longhorns now face their ultimate test, carrying the hopes of ending their coach's long quest for a national championship and bringing a title back to Texas for the first time since 1986.
