A Fresh Start for Jeanty
Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty entered the NFL with significant hype surrounding him, yet his rookie season fell short of expectations. Throughout a difficult year, Jeanty struggled to find his rhythm, finishing with a modest average of 3.7 yards per carry. He managed to surpass 100 yards from scrimmage in only four contests.
Reflecting on Rookie Struggles
While the team's overall offensive woes—including inconsistent play from the quarterback position and a lack of effective blocking from the offensive line—certainly played a role in his underwhelming performance, Jeanty's inaugural campaign remains a point of disappointment. The Raiders, who ended the season as the league's lowest-scoring offense, are eager to turn the page.
Focusing on Growth in Year Two
Looking ahead to his sophomore season, Jeanty remains optimistic about his development. During a media session on Wednesday, he noted that he has spent time refining his ability to read defenses and understand schemes, which has bolstered his confidence.
«Just focusing in more on the details, what the defense is doing, how we're blocking things, coverage, all that type of stuff,» Jeanty stated, according to the team's official website. «So, it's definitely slowing down, and I think it's also just repetition as well. The more you rep it, the more the game slows down.»
As the organization works to address the various factors that hampered their scoring potential last season, a breakout performance from Jeanty would provide a much-needed boost for the Raiders' offense.
