A Prestigious Honor for the Basketball Star

Indiana Fever standout Caitlin Clark is set to take center stage at the 110th Indianapolis 500, having been officially named the grand marshal for the legendary event. Her selection comes as little surprise, given her massive popularity both within Indiana and across the United States. Additionally, her existing professional partnership with Gainbridge, the race's presenting sponsor, made her a natural fit for the role.

«I’m looking forward to experiencing an iconic piece of what makes Indiana so special and being part of the time-honored tradition of ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,’” Clark expressed in an official statement regarding her debut role at the Indy 500.

The Pace Car and Additional Honorees

While Clark leads the ceremonies, the responsibilities on the track will be shared with other notable figures. The pace car for this year’s race will be driven by Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti. This honor follows his team’s historic 16-0 season, which culminated in a College Football Playoff national championship victory this past January.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Doug Boles praised the choice of Cignetti, stating, “His Hoosiers have been nothing short of remarkable, and their national championship run inspired our entire state. [Cignetti’s] the perfect choice to drive the Chevrolet pace car, and I know his introduction on race day will bring out a special roar of appreciation from our crowd.”

Star-Studded Entertainment at the Track

In addition to Clark and Cignetti, the festivities will feature retired NFL star Rob Gronkowski. The former tight end and current television analyst will return to the track to serve as the grand marshal of the “Snake Pit.” This popular infield party, located at Turn 3, hosts an EDM festival that kicks off early on race day and continues throughout the main event.
