Mid-Game Injury Setbacks
During Wednesday's Game 2 of the Western Conference series, which resulted in a 122-13 victory for the Oklahoma City Thunder, both teams faced significant injury concerns. Thunder forward Jalen Williams and Spurs guard Dylan Harper were forced to leave the court and did not return to the game.
Following the conclusion of the contest, neither organization issued a definitive update regarding the long-term status of either player.
Jalen Williams' Hamstring Recurrence
Jalen Williams departed the floor after logging just seven minutes of play during the opening quarter. By the start of the third quarter, Cason Wallace had taken his spot, and the Thunder officially ruled Williams out, citing tightness in his hamstring.
Broadcast footage highlighted that Williams had his left hamstring wrapped—the same area that kept him out of action for six games earlier in the current postseason. Williams, an All-NBA caliber athlete and a pivotal figure in the Thunder's previous championship success, previously missed the entirety of the second-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers due to this injury. He had made his return in Game 1 on Monday, recording an impressive 26 points and 7 rebounds.
Dylan Harper's Leg Issue
San Antonio's Dylan Harper experienced his injury during the third quarter following a collision with Chet Holmgren. After clutching his right leg, Harper was forced to limp toward the locker room.
The Spurs medical staff ruled him out for the remainder of the evening before the fourth quarter commenced. As of now, the specific severity of his injury remains undisclosed. Harper, who has been filling in for the injured De’Aaron Fox, has been a vital contributor to the Spurs' playoff rotation, making his health a major focal point as the series remains tied at 1-1.
