A New Trio of Icons
Although it is currently June, the anticipation for the upcoming college football season is already building. EA Sports officially revealed the cover art for the highly awaited College Football 27 this past Tuesday. The standard edition of the game will showcase three standout players: Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney, and Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy.
Dante Moore: The Oregon Playmaker
Dante Moore enters his fourth collegiate campaign as a redshirt junior. His journey began at UCLA, where he recorded 1,610 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions across nine games in 2023. Following a transfer to Oregon, Moore served as a backup during the 2024 season before taking over as the primary starter in 2025. During that 15-game stretch, he amassed 3,365 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. While many analysts projected him as a top prospect for the 2026 NFL Draft, Moore opted to return for another year of college competition.
Breakout Stars: Toney and Lacy
Malachi Toney has been a transformative force for the Miami offense. During his 2025 campaign, he dominated the ACC, leading the conference with 109 receptions, 1,211 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy has established himself as a powerhouse on the ground. After a brief six-game stint at Missouri in 2024, Lacy moved to Ole Miss, where he led the entire nation with 306 carries in 15 games. Furthermore, he topped the SEC with an impressive 24 rushing touchdowns. Despite head coach Lane Kiffin’s departure to LSU, Lacy has committed to the Rebels for his junior season.
Legacy of the Franchise
College Football 27 marks the third entry in the series since its successful revival in 2024. The series' return featured Texas QB Quinn Ewers, Colorado’s Travis Hunter, and Michigan’s Donovan Edwards on the debut cover. The previous iteration, CFB26, highlighted wide receivers Ryan Williams (Alabama) and Jeremiah Smith (Ohio State).
As per tradition, EA Sports will release a separate design for the “deluxe edition.” However, this specific artwork will be exclusive to physical copies of the game, while digital purchasers will see the standard cover art on their gaming platforms.
