The University of North Carolina has secured a commitment from former Western Carolina quarterback Taron Dickens through the NCAA transfer portal, as reported by On3's Pete Nakos.
Dickens had a standout 2024 season at Western Carolina, passing for 3,508 yards with 38 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions, achieving a 74.2% completion rate. He also added 321 rushing yards and a score on the ground.
He is the third quarterback to join the Tar Heels this offseason, following Billy Edwards Jr. (Wisconsin) and Miles O'Neill (Texas A&M). The team also signed freshman QB Travis Burgess.
This move comes after UNC, in head coach Bill Belichick's first season, finished 4-8 overall and struggled offensively, ranking near the bottom of the ACC in several passing and total yardage categories.
