The No. 1 ranked Michigan Wolverines passed a major road test on Tuesday, defeating the No. 7 Purdue Boilermakers 91-80. Michigan built a 16-point halftime lead and controlled the game throughout, overcoming a hostile environment at Mackey Arena.
Purdue, which had two top-10 wins and a four-game streak, was outmatched. Michigan shot 53% from the field and 57% from three-point range. Point guard Elliot Cadeau led the way with 17 points and 7 assists.
The victory solidifies Michigan's claim as the nation's best team and boosts its resume for the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament. The Wolverines' only loss this season came against Wisconsin in January.
Michigan's next challenge is a high-profile showdown against No. 3 Duke this Saturday in Washington D.C.
