Allegations of Financial Misconduct

Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm has initiated a legal battle against his parents, Daniel and Lisa Bohm, accusing them of defrauding him of millions of dollars during their tenure as his financial managers. The lawsuit, filed in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, alleges that the couple utilized various limited liability companies (LLCs) to siphon funds from the athlete's personal accounts for their own benefit.

Bohm is seeking damages of no less than $3 million and is formally requesting a comprehensive accounting of the disputed funds.

The Disputed Financial Arrangement

According to the court filing, the conflict traces back to 2019, shortly after the Phillies selected Bohm as the third overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft. Bohm asserts that his parents established two LLCs to manage his professional earnings. He claims they informed him that they required a 10% interest in these entities to serve as his authorized representatives, while assuring him that the capital remained exclusively his.

The lawsuit contends that his parents subsequently gained unauthorized access to his personal financial accounts, redirected his funds into the LLCs, and used the money to cover personal expenses.

Response from the Defense

Representing Daniel and Lisa Bohm, attorney Robert Eckard issued a statement denying the accusations:

«Mr. and Mrs. Bohm love their son very much and have always acted in his best interests, both personally and professionally and still do so to this day. They are deeply saddened by the allegations made against them in this lawsuit and the sensational false narrative painted here, which they believe are entirely without merit.»

Conflict Escalation

The relationship reached a breaking point in January when Bohm requested detailed documentation regarding his holdings, including login credentials and account statements. Rather than providing the records, his parents sought legal counsel. Reports suggest they have since claimed they were charging their son $50 per hour for managing his financial affairs. To date, the couple remains listed as directors of The Alex Bohm Foundation alongside their son.

Career Outlook

Since his major league debut in 2020, Bohm has experienced a fluctuating tenure with the Phillies. As a pending free agent, his performance throughout the 2026 season could prove critical in securing a substantial new contract, positioning him as one of the premier third basemen available on the open market.
