Fresh off winning the NCAA men's basketball national championship, University of Michigan head coach Dusty May has agreed to a contract extension. Athletic Director Warde Manuel announced the deal during the team's championship celebration at Crisler Center.

"We have already reached an agreement," Manuel told the crowd. "He will be the leader of this basketball team for many years to come." Specific terms of the new contract were not immediately disclosed.

This marks the second extension for May in his two years at Michigan. He initially signed a five-year deal averaging $3.75 million annually after being hired from Florida Atlantic. Following a successful first season, his contract was extended by a year and his annual salary increased to $5.1 million.

May's successful season also triggered significant performance bonuses, including $400,000 for winning the national championship. He led Michigan to a 37-3 overall record and its first national title in 37 years with a victory over UConn.
