As Stéphan and other observers noted, the footage reveals that Olise merely grasped Galarza’s jersey before the Paraguayan player collapsed, appearing to simulate a blow to the face.
The officiating during the match came under heavy scrutiny, with the referee receiving a rare 1/10 rating from the prominent sports publication L'Equipe for a series of questionable decisions throughout the game.
