A Major Boost for the Tigers
Few college football programs are currently generating as much momentum on the recruiting trail as Clemson. Under the leadership of Dabo Swinney, the Tigers recently intensified their efforts, announcing the addition of three four-star recruits to their 2027 class this past Monday.
The newest commitments include:
- Desmond Malpress, a four-star EDGE prospect from Atlantic Coast (Fla.).
- Luke Starcevic, a four-star interior offensive lineman from Kindred (N.D.).
- JJ Brown, a four-star offensive tackle from Parkview (Ga.).
Since the beginning of May, Clemson has successfully secured eight blue-chip prospects. These acquisitions have propelled the Tigers to the 12th position in the national team recruiting rankings.
The Impact of Official Visits
The recent surge in commitments stems from a highly productive weekend at Death Valley. Desmond Malpress, ranked as the 154th overall prospect in his class, highlighted the group. «Clemson has felt like family even before my official visit,» Malpress noted. «They brought me in with open arms. It’s a great winning program led by Coach Swinney and their academics are amazing as well.»
Luke Starcevic also represents a significant win for the coaching staff, as Clemson successfully out-recruited programs such as Oregon and Kansas State to secure his pledge. Meanwhile, JJ Brown decided to accelerate his commitment timeline following his official visit. Reflecting on his choice, Brown stated: «Coach Swinney cares about his players after their playing days, during their playing days and even before their playing days. The love they showed was unconditional.»
Building a Deep Class
The Tigers’ 2027 class is anchored by standout talents who have committed in recent weeks. Notably, four-star wide receiver Jamarin Simmons, who committed on May 20, is currently the highest-ranked recruit in the group. Scouting reports praise Simmons for his refined route-running, coordination, and elite catching technique.
Additional blue-chip talent added to the roster since the start of May includes:
- Jarrell Chandler (Four-star safety)
- Santana Harvey (Four-star EDGE)
- Elijah Morrison (Four-star interior offensive lineman)
- Gary Walker (Four-star running back)
With these latest additions, Clemson’s total commitment count for the cycle has reached 19 players, signaling a dominant period of talent acquisition for the ACC program.
